Kirsty MacColl has a fantastic voice and is an incredibly talented songwriter. I first heard A New England in the mid and was instantly hooked. This CD gives a great overview of her work and hopefully, will lead you to check out her discography. Love the pairings with Tracy Ullman and the Pogues! A wonderful talent, taken too soon/5(93).

Fairytale of New York CD Promo, front cover This is a CD promo issued by IRS in the US. Unusually, it is creditd to “Kirsty MacColl w/The Pogues”. This is very rare.

Unlike most career-spanning compilations, 's Galore is essential to all Kirsty MacColl fans. Not only does the track collection trace her development from 's sublime Spector pastiche "They Don't Know" to 's haunting Titanic Days, it gathers two tracks recorded with the Pogues in the late '80s -- the Christmas favorite "A Fairytale of New York" and a brilliant reinterpretation of 9/

Tracks include her first hit for Stiffrecords, 'There's a Guy Down the Chipshop Swears He's Elvis', 'They Don't Know' (Kirsty's own composition, later a hit for Tracy Ullman), the Brian Wilson inspired, 'He's on the Beach', the Christmas classic, 'Fairy Tale of New York' feat.

Mar 22,  · Salvo will put out a new two-CD Kirsty MacColl collection, The Anthology next month.. Although it’s debatable if the world needs another MacColl compilation (Salvo’s own A New England: The Best of Kirsty MacColl is only a year old), this has a decent track listing drawing together hits, album cuts, rare b-sides, live sessions and so on. It’s also very cheap.
